Columbus

Ohio

Description

Diverse mix of ethnicities, religions, and very open & affirming, despite being Midwest, bordering Appalachia and the South. We have a wide array of community groups and a thriving community medical/dental/mental health center called Equitas Health. There’s even a High School that is predominantly LGBTQ youth and/or LGBTQ parents & we are well represented in local politics. There’s a thriving art scene, beautiful state parks, the Columbus Zoo, COSI Science Center, Franklin Park Conservatory Botanical Gardens and The Ohio State University.

Short North is the ciy's downtown happening strip that also has LGBTQ bars and nightlife. Located on N. High St, this clean and popular area is also lined with restaurants, galleries, shops, student-packed coffeehouses, craft-beer pubs, and even places to dance.

Arts & Culture fans can find theatre performances and musicals at the Short North Stage, while the Wexner Center for the Arts hosts exhibitions. Columbus also has a nice network of Metro Parks, which are stunning and, of course, Hoover Dam.

Airport

John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). You can take the COTA bus into the downtown area, call a taxi, or and spend $15 on Uber/Lyft! You shouldn't have any problems making your way to the city.

Public Transportation

Columbus only has a system of buses, called the COTA. There are no trams or subways available.
