Atlanta is the home of many progressive cities and communities. Two major LGBTQ neighborhoods would be just west of Piedmont Park (Midtown) and just north (Ansley). The Midtown area hosts many LGBTQ events yearly including Atlanta Pride and Black Gay Pride; these events are held in the fall. Other events not to be missed are the Out On Film Festival, and AIDS Walk Atlanta.
Other neighborhooding cities are also welcoming. They include Avondale Estates, Candler Park, Chamblee, Decatur, Doraville, East Atlanta Village, Pine Lake and Little Five Points.
Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport (ATL) is one of the largest airports in the United States. Located just south from Atlanta's center, you are able to use the public rail system called MARTA. From here you can head towards Midtown in only 15 minutes for around $2.50 roundtrip.
The MARTA is a rail system which also includes bus routes. This multiple lined rail is easy to get around the city, to the airport, and to the suburbs areas.
Atlanta has several fun options for natural sites and beautiful terrain. Check out the BeltLine for hikers which has wonderful green spaces and trails, Silver Comet Trail, Piedmont Park, or even on the outskirts of the city for those a little more adventurous with Stone Mountain Park. Of course check out our Directory for more options!
