Description
Established in 1989, The Lone Star Saloon started as a haven for old gay hippies, serving beer, wine, and sake. Founder Rick Redewill aimed to create a welcoming space, especially during the HIV/AIDS crisis. After an earthquake in 1989, the bar relocated to 1354 Harrison St., embracing the leather/biker and bear scenes. The internet era brought global recognition, with Lone Star becoming a symbol for bear identity worldwide. Despite changing hands, the bar remains a special place, fostering connections and even leading to lasting marriages. Recently acquired by longtime bartenders Bruce (19 yrs) and Charlie (13 yrs), they are dedicated to ensuring patrons feel at home and have a memorable experience. Meet the team on the Bar Staff page.
