San Onofre Beach

The beach attracts a diverse crowd, including hipsters, military personnel, nude surfers, older men, and people from various backgrounds. Most wear minimal clothing like hats or flip-flops, but not everyone goes nude. To get there, take the 5 south and either: 1. Exit at Basilone Rd and follow signs to San Onofre State Park. After passing the San Onofre Nuclear Facility, pay the $15 entrance fee and drive to the last parking area. Follow the trail down to the beach, turn left, and walk past the nude beach and Camp Pendleton’s boundary fence. 2. Two miles past the Basilone Road exit, take the Scenic Overlook exit. Park for up to eight hours and follow the path directly to the beach.
